My name is Tod Sudmeier. I have been with the San Bernardino County Fire Department for over 27 years. I am a published photojournalist specializing in fire and emergency service photography. My photos have appeared in several publications including The Firemen’s Grapevine, Southern California Fire Journal, 911 Magazine, Wildland Firefighter, Victorville Daily Press, The Voice and the Hi Desert Star. My work has also been used as part of San Bernardino County Fire’s Annual Report and many training presentations.
I also enjoy photographing weather, especially lightning. I spend many hours in the summer months in the Mojave Desert, parts of southern Nevada and western Arizona looking for large thunderstorms and lightning.
Digital images are created using current model Canon DSLR cameras and high quality L series lenses.

This website would not exist if it were not for the help of my good friend Jeff Zimmerman. Jeff’s guidance, teaching and mentoring has allowed me to gain and sharpen my photography skills. Jeff is also one of the founding members of the EPN, a group of dedicated photographers and owner/editor of the Southern California Fire Journal.
